NEWTON ABBOT GREYHOUND STADIUM

The greyhound track in the West country town of Newton Abbot was situated at 3° 35' W 50° 32' N and operated under NGRC rules from its first meeting on 2nd May 1974. It was part of Newton Abbot racecourse, just before the turn in to the home straight. The track had a circumference of 437 yards, one of the larger tracks in the country, and ran sprints over 325 yards, standard races over 482 yards, distance races over 525 yards and extended races over 762 yards.

The principal race was the Newton Abbot Derby, but they also held a St Leger. It closed on 7th October 2005.
